Relativism seems to me an obvious consequence of a magic-free worldview but to others an obvious result of anti-rationalist quasi-mysticism. When one think of this debate or clash of intuitions one can't help but wonder: why is everyone apart from Liam Kofi Bright entirely wrong?

Reza you're gonna hate me for this but I see it as falling out of Carnap and Hempel lol - I think the kind of social coordination inquiry (be it descriptive or normative) seeks to achieve will admit of many equally good conventional choices that generate adequate results.

Yes, yes it's a species of methodological pluralism. See my other comment on the debate been Grunbaum and Bar-Hillel on this topic. Principle of tolerance is not a wishy-washy pluralism that turns into relativism. Andrei Carus likens it to a dashboard of a locomotive where
