Reza, can you please expand on your love of Silent Hill 4 as suggested in Cyclonopedia? Also, have you played any of the others in that series?

Re the silent hill reference, its escapes my memory. But there is this passage in Kristen's section which talks about waking up in the room. That's a direct ref to SH, as if it is already happening in an alternative universe.

That’s what I’m thinking of! Which makes a lot of sense actually... SH intro, Umbrella Corp main text.

Again, it is a long time ago. The idea was supposed to be completely undercurrent, as if the shady ME guy was all along in the room. They never got to meet each other because they were truly in parallel and disconnected worlds.

K and I were unsure about the intro but the China convinced us that it is indispensable for two reasons: the alternate dimension a la hidden writing, and then the fact that the book with the intro reads like a love package given its plotline.

I mean none other than China Mieville. He did a lot, without him there would be no cyclonopedia.

He said, listen people say that the intro is misleading compared to the main text but it creates this parallel universe aura and furthermore, it makes the book reads as something far more earthly, it tempers the extravaganza with a simple narrative which is there but hidden.
