You don't need to keelhaul me in a sea of shame. I finally watched my first anime, The End of Evangelion.

I want to say, for the sake saving my philosophical face, that it was stupid, but I completely enjoyed it and was sucked in its world like a prehistoric amoeba.

There is something quite peculiar about the Japanese imagination. Kenji is an expert on this. But think of the their early arcade games up to Katamari Damacy and beyond. They belong to the other worlds.

Without giving much spoilers, I think you will enjoy Episode 16 of EVA in that respect: the absolute loss of self and the opening of parallel worlds (probably in the Metzingerian sense). What you speak of reminds me as well to Satoshi Kon, he worked on this subject as well!

Thanks. I think despite all the shaming that I'm going to suffer, I want to watch every anime in the world. My only experience was the adventures of Sinbad which was the main inspiration for cyclonopedia.

you shouldn't be ashamed at all!!! Anime is fantastic, people don't know what they're missing. I'm also a newcomer, but I've enjoyed it 200% until now
