    If history and tradition are any indicator, then the USSF will likely crib some ranks from other branches, invent their own, and try to generate traditions out of whole cloth. Which is to say, the whole enterprise is naked.

    Additionally, this little ditty is taught to recruits and cadets, those least likely to actually utter the words "Be my little general." None of the services actually have a rank structure that makes any sense, though it's still too early to tell about the Space Force.

    So a major outranks a lieutenant, but a major general is outranked by a lieutenant general. Among the things that make no sense in the military, this is small potatoes, and likely produced the mnemonic "Be my little general" to remember the counter-intuitive order of GOs.

    Someone hit me with the "no one cares about your acceptances" so to that I say a big hearty, fiberglass f*ck you! I worked hard for mine. Women of color can barely get proper representation in publishing, and the minute we do, we get hated on. So, to combat that I will follow

    I've followed Andrea's writings for years. What she - and many, many others - experienced is a violation of trust. Her points about others with less power, less platform, and less privilege also ring painfully true.

    My A: It depends. My follow-up Q: What is meant by "show don't tell"? Like most writing advice, there are no hard and fast rules. If anything, the story matters most (as does the audience, as does the artist). So: what serves the story? The audience? The artist?
