Just submitted my Law DPhil/PhD for examination . Having also done my MSc, BCL and MPhil law masters here, this ends 5.5 incredible years in Oxford. Now for a short break under the azure Namibian sky before returning to orally defend & hopefully become [Dr] Ndeunyema

What a dramatic bench in Malawi - and the decision is 500 pages in length apparently! I hope the Namibian Supreme Court doesn't keep the nation waiting with bated breath when it delivers judgment on the Presidential Election Challenge this Thursday.

So, someone like Petrus Shaanika could not challenge the Squatters Proclamation in 2011 as that law has already being passed in 1984

Justice Smuts laments that Counsel for the Minister cites many SA cases but only one Namibian case as a footnote although there are many others. One day I will write on the caviler reliance on South African jurisprudence in Namibian Courts.

Counsel for Minister: There is authority of this (Supreme) Court on that point. Judge Smuts: What authority is that? Counsel: My juniors will find it. Judge Smuts: Yes? Counsel: It's actually the High Court Judge Smuts: and what’s the authority? Counsel: err...

I often gift Neshani Andreas’s “The Purple Violet of Oshaantu” to friends, who r almost always struck by the depth + quality of this relatively unknown novel. There’s certainly much more out there so let’s start a thread of Namibian fiction to read in 2020 starting with this:

White Namibians are now super refined at creating social apartheid using their economic might. And it cant go uncalled out that a CEO of the country’s biggest private company uses the tragedy (enabled by Icelandic business) as dog whistle for Blacks as inherently corrupt
