As part of this effort, NPF is supporting the removal of non-native plants from the Lower Herring River basin and Duck Harbor areas of the park, which will promote the recovery of native salt marsh vegetation as the ecosystem is restored. (3/3) 📸: Sara Murrill

In 2018, NPF facilitated the purchase of Dr. King’s birth home from the King Center. Upon its acquisition, the home was transferred to the National Park Service, to be protected in perpetuity as part of the national park system.

A $10 million interpretive education center is coming to ! Helping make this possible, NPF purchased then donated six properties adjacent to the Edmund Pettus Bridge with funds from The Fund II Civil Rights Historic Preservation program.

A team of seasonal education rangers at used funding from NPF's Open OutDoors for Kids program to scale their field trip program and make the park in the heart of the city a more welcoming place for 1.5+ million San Antonians.
