The Republican Party is morally disgusting in 1000 different ways. Here in FL, cities used to be able to protect old oak trees. Ron DeSantis signed a law giving developers the right to ignore city rules and destroy whatever trees they like. This one near me is going next.

This neighborhood is full of shady old oak trees. But chopping down all the oak trees allows you to create more lots and build more houses. So all the oak trees will go because it makes developers more money, even if everyone in the neighborhood objects.

This is what happens to a place governed by Republicans. Everything that stands in the way of rich people making more money is destroyed. They do not give a crap about nature, or shade, or beauty. The right will kill anything to protect profit.
It’s a bit more nuanced than that.
Oak trees protected by any political entity other than the wealthy will be treated with contempt. Once a new cohort own and control the land, they’ll pay thousands to re-plant the trees.
The trees are incidental. It’s control.

It’s usually democrats trying to protect the property values of the mansions their donors live in who stop these things from happening.
In Alexandria VA it is the Democrats pushing to cut down trees to jam more square footage into lots. GOP opposed to that sort of growth.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is exactly the same thing that happens in places run by Democrats.
Your critique is for both parties - and for the one thing they both agree on - capitalism.
With principles like this it is no wonder progressive-run cities/states excel at homelessness. But, they do care! That's all that matters.
