  1. I'm not sure who needs to hear this, but I certainly did: Self-care is not selfish. Taking care of yourself should not be viewed through the lens of "inconveniencing other people" or based on other peoples expectations of you. Your own physical and mental health is critical.

My favorite part of continuing a project into a new year is that I can just make a "Pre-CurrentYear" folder, move all of the older versions of files into it, and continue to delude myself into thinking I'm well organized.

Here's an idea to carry into 2020: You cannot create or curate a community where everyone is welcome. It's an incoherent, fake goal. It sounds nice but it is categorically impossible. Some people, by their very presence, make a space unsafe and unwelcoming to others.

Safety signal learning reduces fear and targets an alternative neural circuit from typical extinction learning. Potential implications for treatment for anxiety. A collaboration with and many others (coming soon to PNAS)!

From 's article: 1. Black folks who report "fitting in" at work are more likely to downplay their race, but also to burn out. 2. White participants evaluated code-switching behaviors as more professional, whereas Black participants viewed them as less professional.

When we want critical feedback we often ask: What am I doing wrong? Consider instead asking: What am I doing right and what can I be doing better? Both questions get at what you want to ask, but the second one will usually result in a more candid and helpful answer.
