Medicare for “all who want it” is Medicare for none.
Why?
You funnel all those the insurace companies deem “high risk” on to the government plan, which will crater it. But the insurance companies have less risk, more profit.
It’s an insurance company scam

FWIW, the ACA limits insurance carriers to no more than a 15-20% gross margin (not net) and they have to pay back anything over that to policyholders. Yes, I know that’s not as good as 2-3%; the point is their margins are legally limited. We can tighten it up more if we wish.

In fact, in Massachusetts they’re limited to a 12% gross margin. Guess which state has the lowest unsubsidized ACA premiums?

This is so obvious that it shouldn’t need to be said.

Sorry Nate, really like most of your ideas but Medicare for all will give us 4 more years of trump. M4A should be a public option.
Nobody who want M4A talks about what will happen to the million + employees in the insurance industry.

This is flat out lying. It's basically the ACA with a Public Option. I repeat, it's what the progressive base pushed for under Obama.

That is a misnomer. It puts parameters for goals to address that issue. You need to read up more about this. This an old trope that is risky if we don’t expect a government to compete on quality ... and it is shitty for politicians to claim that doesn’t matter.

The only way universal insurance works is through a consolidated risk pool.
Saying people need only pay for certain risks splinters the risk pool into advantaged and disadvantaged groups.
Insurance is an inherently socialistic enterprise.

The thing I find missing from the talk on health care policy is that nobody ever seems to be concerned with the supply of doctors, and the costs associated with becoming a doctor, and being a doctor.
More people with various levels of medical skills would help a lot of issues.

Look at cost per capita and percentage of GDP for healthcare in countries with universal. And the question needs to be asked how can we afford not to. Nobody is making this argument and it’s so frustrating
