Also helps Biden that he doesn't have to spend a lot of time explaining who he is. A lot of the candidates' elevator pitches are mishmashes of biography, values & policy. It's hard to cram in all 3. If you can dispense with the bio, you can focus more effectively on the other 2.

Also, these policy views are fairly squarely within the Democratic mainstream (while also happening to be reasonably popular with general election voters). He's not exactly running as a centrist.https://twitter.com/perrybaconjr/status/1122966259954606083 …

Thank goodness we live in a nation where voters are extremely good at fact-checking feel-good statements made by politicians.

Joe has a lifelong abiding view in what unions do for people and what happens when working people are left for last. Not trendy, it’s him.

It isn't trendy because it's meaningless. For a Democratic primary, "meat-and-potatoes" would have to mean something like "basic policies that Democrats generally agree upon." And his views on employees-vs-employers issues aren't exactly consistent.https://twitter.com/arlenparsa/status/1122963379084197888 …

Nate, I think you get way too much hate from the Twitter mob. All you do is make observations that may or may not turn out to be true but every time people attack you like you just insulted them. Keep on doing what you do, I for one find it very interesting
-
Guy went to the mattresses against punditry in 2012 and people don’t forget that, especially when he champions centrism and disguises it as “observation”
-
Exactly, dude did a total 360 from a "just the facts" Joe Friday routine to a P.T. Barnum "there's a sucker born every minute" routine with a quickness...and people aren't supposed to notice? Sheeeiiit.

Good ol’ Nate realized there’s more money to be had in the grift than in the grind.

A beloved waiter at a local diner was pulled off the street during a sting and sent "home" to a county he left 25 years ago; leaving his wife and disabled daughter in shock. There is no "restoring the basic bargain", and even the conservative Ds are beginning to get that.

no one believes Biden will actually change the system; tiny improvements followed by massive GOP rollbacks and sabotage (ACA, Judges) isn't really what base Ds are looking for.
-
I think he would be open to listening to more progressive people. If crazy Donald can take advice from Steven Miller, maybe Biden could take good advice from Warren, Harris, etc. To me Biden represents stability after four years of criminal insanity.
-
Is there any Dem who wouldn't represent stability, though? I mean, the most wingnutty guy running for the D nom is a Senator with 30 years experience.
-
Any Dem would be more stabile than Trump. Least stable in that group is Bernie, because I think he’d be a shock and awe kind of guy. I think Biden might be boring, but after what I’ve felt since 2016, I’ll take a little boring. I’m still interested in progressive governing.
