So basically you treat it like a loose ball foul on the rebound attempt... offensive team gets the ball back but only shoots free throws if it's in the penalty. A ref still could call a traditional shooting foul, but this would be another option for more incidental contact.
Harden jumps forward 2 feet on every shot which is not a foul. The idea that the contact is the defender's fault is flat wrong
Back when I played ball, admittedly that’s about 25 years ago, the shooter owned the space straight up and straight down. If the defender entered that space and made contact it was a foul. Now you have shooters that leap forward 2-3 feet when they shoot, making it impossible.

They could have called a foul on whoever was guarding Durant on almost every possession. Huge part of Rockets game is Harden and Paul trying to bait refs into phantom fouls and whining when it doesn’t always work. Painful to watch.

Good idea in general, but the specific cases last night weren't fouls. The defenders didn't go straight up, but they didn't land where Harden or Paul started their shots at. They simply tried to move forward into the defender.
Good old NBA. The only sport that referees games different in post season than regular season. Pretty sure this is done on purpose so NBA stays in the limelight and increases viewership

Harden might get the calls if it wasn’t a huge part of his game to try to get fouls. He’s so tiresome.
There is a style you can play offense where you take it out of the refs hands. His whole game is based on drawing fouls. Sometimes it will go his way, sometimes it won’t. If he doesn’t like that, he should stop playing that way.
