Something I've been thinking about recently, that I thought would make an interesting year-end thread. What's a new product/service/business that American capitalism has produced in the the last few years that you see as an unambiguous net benefit?

not exactly 'unambiguous net benefit', though

Their business model is based on taking advantage of, and exploiting/underpaying unemployed people. 1000% flattens the 'benefit'.

Sure, but totally unfair to the taxi industry. Ride-sharing services should not be exempt from taxi regulations.

Yes! I pay thousands yearly for licenses for my cabs in each municipality we operate, drivers must be fingerprinted and go thru a yearly background check with the State Bureau of Investigation. While Uber has hundreds of randos in their own cars, no special licensing.

It’s hitch hiking! That you have to pay for. Just hope you don’t wind up in a serial killer or rapists car

until the driver gets in an accident, the passenger and people in the other car are injured, and no one is covered by the insurance

Uber drivers are required to carry insurance. Accidents and collisions will still happen no matter who drives.

Yes but not if it leads to self driving cars and all those drivers lose a way to make a living
