People miss a simple explanation for live poker getting less friendly: friendliness at the table is negatively correlated to skill.

@NateMeyvis Absolutely disagree (if I am understanding your statement correctly!). Some of the best players I know are extremely friendly.

@keiththecamel In 2005 games often featured seven people _only_ at the table to have a chat and play cards. Surely that makes a difference.

@NateMeyvis I think there is a real misconception that in order to be successful at poker you need to concentrate to a ridiculous extent.

@keiththecamel Fair enough (though I'm not sure it's so overstated). But would you disagree that the average loser is more likely to chat?

@NateMeyvis What i do think, it's the pro players job to make losers feel like they enjoyed the game. Then they are more likely to return.

@keiththecamel Agreed; and it's the decent thing to do. Also, of course, I've met a million fascinating people at the tables!

@NateMeyvis And several you'd cross the street to avoid no doubt!
