@apokerplayer @NateMeyvis Haha. Yeah, that would be even more awkward, but less brutal perhaps.

@QuantPoker @NateMeyvis Yes, sorry to make light, now that I know what it is.

@QuantPoker @apokerplayer My wife worked at a shelter for 5 years. Shuddered at the thought of the coinflip. Ugh.

@NateMeyvis Yeah, many seem shocked. Thinking about saying something. Separating the families before the draw would at least help a little.

@QuantPoker Yes. Though I also feel bad for the people working the shelter. Mistakes happen and I bet they feel terrible.

@NateMeyvis They were sympathetic but also said it was their standard practice to settle many close calls with flips, which seems weird.

@QuantPoker Wait, what? I just assumed it was a bad way to resolve an administrative mistake. For it to be standard practice is... ugh.

@NateMeyvis I'm seeing now how my first tweet was misunderstood. My bad. At the time, I thought this was more common standard practice.

@QuantPoker Yeah, I'm no expert. That just seems like bad policy to me. Hope you guys & the dog live happily ever after!

@NateMeyvis Just learned via the fosters, the other family DID think they were getting the dog 100%. They'd bought a bowl w/ his name. Ugh..

@QuantPoker Oh, no! Want to hug those kids. IMO that policy is terrible. Again: there are more great dogs than good homes. They'll be fine.

@NateMeyvis Yeah. Still, so brutal. Anyway, felt like I had to update you on that. I'll try to bring less dismal news in the future.

@QuantPoker Appreciate it! Animal adoption / farming is a sad sad story in general; your story just a small effect, unfortunately.
