I'm a contrarian here (at least with respect to the productivity community, as I know it) in at least two respects: (1) I think notes capture should be domain-specific. Some people are really great with, e.g., Drafts. If that works for them, great. [1/N]
But for me I'd rather choose between Reminders, DevonTHINK (or one of my Shortcuts to it), pen/paper, or whatever, depending on the context and content of the thought. More important than speed or consistency is being able to do it smoothly and get back to whatever else. [2/N]

(2) More contrarian still: I'm not sure that the marginal thought *should* be captured! I've recently gone through a bunch of old notes / journal entries / etc. They're *terrible*! Awful! At least when they're not closely tied to something I was already engaged in. [3/N]

Which for me is all the more reason to have project- / context-sensitive capture methods. That "catch-all" / default category, divorced from anything I've been thinking about in a sustained way already, is just very unlikely to capture anything profound. [4/N]
