As Chris Davis retires, I'm thinking about the game I most associate with him:

Best game ever for someone who went 0-for-8? (Any thoughts, @matt979?)
Local note: this was an early sign that Bobby Valentine in Boston might not work out very well.
It was wonderful. Misc. memories:
(1) Nava HR the first game after the marathon bombing;
(2) Ortiz grand slam in the ALDS (I was at Fenway);
(3) Ortiz, "this is our [expletive] city."
(4) Watching various games with @mediastudied.

After the Tigers-A's series (I saw Game 5 in person) I forget whether I wanted Detroit to go all the way. I remember seeing an Ortiz GS while eating at a Mexican restaurant in Alameda that had a signed, framed Esteban Loaiza A's jersey.

I do my best to avoid watching replays of that grand slam. I had a wonderful view of it from the cheap seats behind the 3B line and remember not knowing whether Torii Hunter had broken his neck. Don't want to pollute the memory. Also that ball sounded like a cannon went off.
