One of the really huge strokes of luck in my life is that Emily Oster started having kids roughly (one year plus the amount of time it takes to write and publish a book) before I did.

Exact same. I envy the future crop of social scientists who will get tenure on the back of writing a bunch of papers to explain why kids born 2016 and later are noticeably happier and have more relaxed parents than kids born before.
