The people who like (& are good at) being in charge of stuff and the people who like (& are good at) understanding stuff are not the same people. This is such a big problem. What solutions are there?
We can make it more acceptable to be in charge of stuff while also openly taking time and effort to just understand stuff. That is, try to all say: "hey, you can be like Patrick Collison, just throwing parties where you ask people to tell you about whatever they happen to know."
