totally. I also think its static in/out nature makes it more receptive to things like this than baseball. Fair/Foul calls could be done like that...the strike zone...it's harder.

And more of the mystique of the game has to do with individual people and rivalries, and game rhythms of many different sorts. Somehow changing the micro-structure of a match seems (in my very very casual perspective) not to hit the core of what the game is *about*.
