That's the first time in years I've seen a sentence begin "The first 10,000" that didn't contain "receive a free [ballpark giveaway]." Although come to think of it teams started saying "10,000 fans" probably to avoid controversy if one gate runs out of merch before another.
And surely encouraging fans to get to the park a bit earlier (not so easy as to be a huge bother) increases concessions sales?
