@MattGlassman312 @thinkingpoker @NateMeyvis loved the discussion about democratic systems. You said that most “improvements” have already been thought of, but being Australian two came to mind
1 Nationally standardised voting
2 Compulsory voting
Why can’t these happen in the US?

Maybe it’s just because I’ve grown up with it (bias?) but these are both features of other well functioning democracies, and would increase fairness markedly. Compulsory voting makes fighting for the middle ground more important than merely mobilising the rusted on supporters

Are those empirical claims? I think there are huge, huge literatures here, and I'm not really up on them but I wouldn't bet that they affirm those claims.
