In which I start to put into writing something I've puzzled over for a long time: what is it about long books? https://natemeyvis.com/long-books/
Depends how much I like the book. Skipping is very rare unless it's a less linear structure of book (e.g., Cambridge Companion to English Poetry, which I like very much but skip parts of). Default is power through but I'm very willing to abandon.

That’s my default too. I’d rather abandon than skip. It would be way less satisfying at the end if I knew I skipped.
