I still really like Dr. Seuss, but I see those books *very* differently having spent a lot of time thinking about the mass implicit belief that the greatest hits of the 1950s constitute the truest and best face of America.
"Is Dr. Seuss just the Monopoly of children's literature?" My answer isn't "yes," but it's not an unqualified "no" either.

I don’t view all Seuss as one thing. Cat in the Hat is truly great though. One Fish Two Fish we live for the part where the mouse has cut the wire, goodbye!

Some are better than others of course but the language and illustrations are just wonderful across the board.
