Workflowy for organizing notes hierarchically; I (try to) keep notes on podcasts I listen to, everything I read, etc. When there's some separate thing I want to write up (as a complete thought), Docs is usually the first thing I go to.

If it's the sort of thing where Vim keybindings will help, then I open VS Code (or similar) and get going there; but that's rare for English. FWIW I work at Google so take all of this with the requisite salt!

I get it. Everyone works for someone, and it feels like everyone is making a writing surface these days even if it's not the "point" of their app. But even for people whose employer/product isn't a horse in the race, legacy habits are real. Mine just don't work for me anymore.
