@thinkingpoker @NateMeyvis when does the open-ended x-raise semi-bluff on turn stop working? (Re ep4 of weekend warrior, Nate had 55)
I tried a similar play w 99 on xJT8 and got beat by villain w/ JT. Was that a mistake bc board hit more of her range, or was I just unlucky?

The gameplay up to the turn was similar to your example. I was in the blind and trying to push Villain off AJ or an over-pair

Sounds like you didn't get called by your bluff target (JT being actually a better calling hand than AJ or overpair), so maybe just a bluff cooler. That is, you had a hand you were supposed to bluff with, he had a hand he was supposed to call with. Same as if you got KK vs AA pre

I mean, again, I don't know all the details and it'd be irresponsible to praise or correct this play knowing only what I know, but if (i) they tank with top two and (ii) a reasonable % of their 0- or 1-pair hands play the same way, a bluff is often printing money.
