Dealer thanked me repeatedly and enthusiastically for a tip on a small pot and now I am wondering WTF I gave him.

I think dealers should say thank you every time they receive a tip. Tipping isn’t automatic, and if I was in a tipping line of work, I would appreciate every tip.
I think a quick tap of the metal part of the rack with the chip is a good convention / practice here. I find it pleasant, at least.
