The positions you need to take and the knot you need to tie yourself into in order to reflexively defend the president at this point have become too much for many of my GOP friends, which is a credit to them and a bad sign for Trump.
Oh heck yes. ~30% voted Trump, and surely more than that identify conservative / conservative-ish. Might not seem like much, but the resulting culture is _very_ different from that of 22% towns.

I remember from my childhood (90s) that it was a somewhat GOP-leaning town. Grew up around the corner from a Republican mayor, Dick Lyons; can only imagine what a guy like him makes of the party today
