I was a little confused with Nate being so adamant against 5x opens from ep. so to clarify, opening so large OOP strengthens opponents calling ranges and being OOP vs strong ranges is so hard to play profitably. @NateMeyvis @JonathanLittle
Just in general if you're going to be out of position you'd prefer smaller pot. Exception is as others have said if opponents don't adjust calling ranges or hand read/pressure you postflop, then you just play a very tight range EP and bloat pot (though limping may be preferable).
Thanks!
I was specifically focusing on the deep stacks. If you play too tight preflop, your opponent will often have a nuts advantage against you. With deep stacks, having a nuts disadvantage and being out of position just cannot be overcome (unless the skill differential is huge).
