Vindman did not initially believe moving the call to the codeword system constituted a coverup. But he said he became disturbed when Eisenberg later instructed him not to discuss details of call, because it was Vindman’s job to coordinate interagency process re: Ukraine policy.
We previously reported that the WH started placing call records into codeword system after calls leaked in 2017. But Eisenberg’s purported request that Vindman keep details of Ukraine call a secret raises questions about whether his intent was to bury the conversation altogether.
