The Ellie Kemper misinformation is wild. No, she’s not a “KKK princess.” Read a bit of St. Louis history — like the history of every city everywhere, it is simply dark and complicated. Twitter trends are making all of us dumber, I swear to God.
I love you but, no. It’s not just “dark and complicated”. It’s violent and white supremacist. It’s super problematic to with associate darkness with something bad especially in the context of conversations about Black reactions to white supremacy.

Darkness = absence of light. People have traditionally feared the dark, associating it with night predators and violence. I don’t like darkness myself. Hence the usage. The history of St. Louis is extremely fraught. But that’s not the same as “she was at a KKK ball in 1999.”

Either out of ignorance or deception ppl are failing to note that picture is (as far as I understand) an illustration, a caricature, that is contrary to contemperaneous, more mundane, report of costume described in other newspaper

Nah just you. Your insistence that the past is the past is quite dumb indeed. It’s amazing how far removed from White supremacy y’all try to make things. I guess Tulsa was also simply dark and complicated too huh?
Nothing complicated about the classist, racist nature of the org & event. There's no delicate nuance involved. The org has not reformed in any notable way. Pretending this is cancel culture or a Twitter trend is deluded or dishonest. Either way, what a weird thing to knight for.
