I condemn the recent attacks in Afghanistan, which claimed many civilian lives, including members of the Hazara Shia community & at least 16 children. I repeat: Attacks against civilians are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law. Civilians are not a target.

I join thinking of families and loved ones. A massacre in a maternity ward w #Hazara mothers, babies and health workers victims, part of a pattern. Accountability with international standards can honor victims' lives & help prevent reoccurrence of such atrocities

Today, 12 May, we remember the people who were killed two years ago in the brutal attack on the @MSF maternity ward in Dasht-e-Barchi, Kabul. Our thoughts are with their family, friends and all those touched by the events of that tragic day.

there's one problem with this tweet: "afghan people" are not targets of the terror attacks by sunni muslim extremist groups (taliban, isis, & affiliates), the #hazaras are. if you can't make this simple distinction, you simply don't understand the nature of terror attacks

Good to convey Eid Mubarak to former President Karzai today. Discussed shared desire to see terrorist attacks against the Afghan people end, a return to secondary school for girls, and need for dialogue among all Afghans re: future of their country.
Hazaras are systematically targeted at schools, mosques, hospitals, wedding halls, sport clubs, squares, streets, & highways by Sunni Muslim extremist groups, the Taliban, ISIS, and other affiliates. Join this important virtual seminar on how the #hazaragenocide is unfolding.

Hazaras Targeted In Afghanistan Yet Again...95 percent of the 18-30,000 boys who attend the Kabul school bombed this week are Hazara. Many students are dead or injured. This barbarism done in the name of a religion is a blasphemous outrage.

The Taliban is downplaying a series of attacks on the minority Shiite Hazara community, says Afghan journalist Bilal Sarwary (). The latest was a pair of bomb blasts targeting a boys' school in Kabul, Afghanistan, that killed at least six people on Tuesday morning.
