Can't even count anymore how many times my emotes get stolen or traced. 
ALWAYS ask for a portfolio of their work, consider the cost, and please @Twitch implement image recognition for emote submissions.
As a Canadian, DMCAing content of anyone not in Canada is extremely costly and difficult to do. I have previously been told to not bother as it isn't worth it. I wish Twitch could take more action and help out streamers who don't have these tools so easily at their disposal.
