I have had three cups of coffee and an energy drink and all I want to do is sleep. The heck is wrong with me?

As far as I understand, that's almost exactly it. The caffeine stimulates our lack of endorphins in our brain, placing us on a 'neutral' level. When you take something that is constantly straining for endorphins & give it what it needs, it becomes exhausted. Thus, being tired.

Exactly this - I discovered early on when being treated for ADHD that taking Adderall allowed me some of the best sleep I'd had in ages. I brought it up to my Psychiatrist, they said it was likely because my brain was stimulated enough to stay at neutral which allowed me to rest.

Pretty much, when it is all boiled down and reduced. I am sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that caffeine reacts with the serotonin that is actively decaying into melatonin throughout the wake cycle. Likely caffeine in those with adhd speeds up the process.pic.twitter.com/E59Yauh68e
