I scored highest on the spelling test, but as a shy nerd, asked my teacher to not put me in the spelling bee, he agreed. Bee time arrived, I was called up. Teacher sent me off with a knowing smile. Second round, in tears and shaking with nerves, I misspelled octopus as octapus.

The betrayal hurt more than the misspelling, but I loved octagons (still do) and that's what my brain went to :')

In the sixty grade, I came in third in a spelling bee. I misspelled Heroine as Heroin.
