To explain: Milk + most milk products are considered basic groceries, which aren't taxed GST/HST in Canada. However, non-dairy milks and products don't count. So lactose intolerant folks, or anyone choosing alts for any other reason, pay extra taxes on top of premium prices. :)))

Lol? The logic here? A variety of food and drinks are tax exempt, including fruits and vegetables, which most definitely do not come from any animal. Milk alternatives are food staples for those who cannot consume milk. Food staples are supposed to be tax exempt. End of story.
