Survival rate =/= continued good quality of life after having covid. There are many young, healthy people without preexisting conditions that get seemingly permanent lung damage, chronic fatigue, brain damage, and much more, after "surviving" covid. But sure, that's fine :/

My brother-in-law, in his 50s, got Covid. Hospitalized, on a vent for quite a while. Discharged, few days later returned and found he needed a heart valve replacement. All “recovery” stats reflect is people who don’t die. By that metric, he’s one of the success stories.
