Instead of throwing out the old spinach, wilt it in a pan then squeeze out the moisture. Into a plastic baggie into the freezer - can be used for a spinach dip or pizza in the future.
Or if you're lazy, you can literally toss it into the freezer as-is, in it's original bag, and then just crumble it into anything - eggs, soup, pasta, especially smoothies!! And the things you mentioned :) No extra time necessary
