COVID-19 border restrictions? These Canadians are using a friend's trucking business to transport their car (and pets!) over the border while flying to the U.S. by helicopter so they can pick up their car in Buffalo and drive to Florida for winter.https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2020/11/10/canadian-snowbirds-find-creative-way-to-get-to-florida-with-their-cars-despite-closed-border.html?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=SocialMedia&utm_campaign=National&utm_content=snowbirds …

“It went as smooth as silk. … Within minutes, we were out of the helicopter and at our car.” Because of COVID-19 Canada-US border restrictions, they aren't able to drive into the US, but now they can drive in America.https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2020/11/10/canadian-snowbirds-find-creative-way-to-get-to-florida-with-their-cars-despite-closed-border.html?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=SocialMedia&utm_campaign=National&utm_content=snowbirds …

Since advertising their solution on the Canadian Snowbirds in Florida Facebook group recently, they’ve received hundreds of inquiries. They’ve already done a handful of trips and, as of Monday afternoon, had an additional 35 to 40 trips booked.https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2020/11/10/canadian-snowbirds-find-creative-way-to-get-to-florida-with-their-cars-despite-closed-border.html?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=SocialMedia&utm_campaign=National&utm_content=snowbirds …

A U.S. customs official told the Star: “If a Canadian’s vehicle is legitimately imported to the U.S. and the Canadian flies in, that is not considered a violation of the travel restrictions.” https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2020/11/10/canadian-snowbirds-find-creative-way-to-get-to-florida-with-their-cars-despite-closed-border.html?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=SocialMedia&utm_campaign=National&utm_content=snowbirds …pic.twitter.com/IcjboF7ecM

“We’re just playing by the rules, right? Those are the rules. The land border is closed. You’re still allowed to fly. That’s not necessarily a loophole. That’s just what’s legal right now.” Story by

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. I hope they don’t get COVID, but if they do I hope they have to pay their medical bills 100% out of pocket.

@JustinTrudeau#Snowbirds#Pandemic? Upon return, 1of2 things MUST happen (*means at THEIR OWN EXPENSE) *COVID test at border: 1)positive, NO entry to Canada* 2)negative escorted to nearest motel to QUARANTINE, Guard posted for 20 days & they go NOWHERE* ....If they get COVID *1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
What you described is already standard procedure for anyone returning to Canada. Quarantine for 14 days (enforcible by 3 years in jail and million dollars in fines) if you don't have symptoms, and mandatory isolation (or no entry) for two weeks if you do have symptoms.
