It just hit me that some gamers now have to look up where the term Metroidvania originated from

Why would they have to look it up? You mean there exists gamers who haven't experienced the love between Super Metroid and Castlevania SOTN yet?
The bright side is that there is a whole new world to introduce to those young beans :')
