I appreciate all the kind messages. You have no idea how much it means. I know to many I seem like I have it together all the time but I’m only human. Losing my voice for a month+ has really worn me down.

Absolutely go see an ENT to identify/rule out any physical issues. Mine was literally just swelling caused by stress/worry that something was wrong. After the ENT I saw a speech language pathologist (speech therapist) *once* to work out the issues I'd created and learn exercises.

I'm on this exact path! ENT suggested it might be due to acid reflux. So I'm on a 14-day treatment for that. Definitely going to look into speech therapy afterwards.

Mine said it could be that too (redness), but I didn't have the rest of the symptoms, so I was confused and looked to an SLP (not always the same as speech therapist). People who study airways, the larynx, the voice, the whole shebang rather than just speech. I had issues for 9..

months, intense pain swallowing, difficulty breathing, it was an absolute nightmare. And 1-2 months of straw exercises, proper breathing, occasional warmups, and talking strongly knowing nothing was actually broken inside me did that whole decent-speed recovery thing :)

So absolutely look into that ASAP if your acid reflux treatment doesn't help and your ENT has no better ideas - I have a whole pack of unused acid reflux pills because I doubted that diagnosis.

Yeah actually once the doc mentioned it, I realized I had been having issues with acid reflux lately. I'm doing vocal warmups before each stream now. No pain thankfully just difficult to project. Thank you so much for the advice and sharing your story

Can't wait for you to recover completely <3 When you do, keep up the vocal warmups/cooldowns when you feel you need them, straw exercises are amazing and work so quickly if you know/learn the right way to do em :D Best of luck, you'll get through it, and you're not alone in this!
