It's important to have both sides of that. Knowing where you want to get to in terms of success in your career, if it in any way relies on numbers, it gives you a focus and something to push for.

I completely agree, and I think as a streamer with an extremely small channel I understand more than he might, not to say he's a bad person or anything, but he may have lost the feeling of working from humble beginnings bc of the large fanbase he has

This ain't it. He's stating the importance of valuing things that actually enrich your life as opposed to numbers that don't make/break your worth. Having 100k followers won't fulfill you, wonderful friends will. But a numerical goal, as long as it's not the ONLY goal, it's aight
