      Men constantly tell women to wear less makeup, wear more makeup, change their clothes, smile more, swear less, act differently, etc etc etc etc etc etc. If you think it's pathetic to try to get men to stop trying to control women, you're part of the problem.

      I am not comparing the action. I am comparing the intent. Me choosing whether or not I am controlled by his controlling/abusive words does not change the fact that he intended to say this controlling/abusive thing.

      I have the freedom to ignore it. I also have the freedom to try to show people why this intent is wrong, harmful, not okay, not a compliment. Which is what I'm trying to do. Yes, I could have ignored it too. But why, why oh why, are you DEFENDING his intent?

          He, a stranger with no rapport with me, came in to stream while I was doing my makeup and out of nowhere said "go wash that stuff off your face." Knowing A) what he said and B) that I didn't like it, clearly means that this is not a friendship and that these comments aren't ok.
