Looks like they're scratching at it. Potentially: -Dirty ears that are itchy, or ear mites -An allergy, either to food or some outside source, causing irritation and itching -A deficiency of something in their diet causing the skin itch/irritation -Stress grooming/scratching

(Former vet assistant here) Do you see her scratching her ears? Have you changed her diet recently? Is she exposed to any new climates or surroundings she hasn’t been exposed to before?
-
I adopted her 3 weeks ago! She seems to love her food and it's really healthy stuff, but yes, it's different from the crappy dry food she used to get. She's an indoor cat but I took her on one short walk around the block on a leash. It's a bit hotter than usual here right now.

I don't have vet experience but I have experience with my cat Dorian. He would shake his head a lot and scratch in that same spot in front of his ears until they were bloody. It was always ear mites or food allergies. If you haven't changed her diet lately, my money's on mites.

I just got her :S It could be allergies...

RVT here, I concur with
@LadyDevann with pretty much everything. Contact allergies and food allergies are more likely vs things such as ear mites unless shes been outdoors. and generally ear mites present as almost black coffee grounds in the ears.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Yes it could be from food allergies most common allergic reactions are from chicken and beef. Look for limited ingredient foods wlike natural balance or whole hearted. It could also be from fleas, if you see peppery grains around her body it could be flea eggs.
