A lot of companies do this, especially furniture companies! Usually they make sure you have good credit :) You're in hell if you don't pay when the time comes. They care about money in general, not necessarily money right now. This either helps people, or they make dumb decisions

Oh yeah, for sure. For me the surprise was that Amazon was doing it. They sell so much stuff that this doesn't seem like the kind of thing they'd need to do. I guess this is just a market they really want to own.
