There are also people who remember wp without custom post types, when it was just a blog
My child just asked me about WordPress and it hit me that there is now a significant generational divide in the WordPress experience: they will never know the "Classic" editing experience, only Gutenberg and the future.

I thought about that, and while it was a big step forward for WordPress, I don't think the visual experience impact is as significant. CPTs fit right in along with "blog posts". Gutenberg is a big (necessary) departure from what we've known
