Thanks for your comment on this. The Blairites see themselves as a aristocracy who should not be challenged despite losing 60% of the members between 1997 and 2010 and about 4 million votes while pursuing failed economic policies.

That sounds real familiar... centrist Democrats ran the party into the ground, losing over 1,000 state & local seats across the country in 8 years. They haven't reflected on why that it, yet still feel like they are the Serious People who should be in charge.
-
It's the legacy of two bogus centre left politicians,Blair and Clinton, both of whom came in on a tidal wave of enthusiasm. We thought they were going to challenge the right but they were interlopers who abandoned the traditional supports. Their ideas are dying but not yet dead

I think you might have missed a few problems in the Labour party that pushed these people out. I am not particularly fond of them but your characterisation of them as traitors of a party that stands for working people is off the mark.
-
Selling arms to Saudi? Privatising water? Lying about Brexit at every opportunity? Taking bungs from Israeli spies? Enthusiastically pushing austerity? If those are Labour values I'm a kiwi fruit. They are as interested in helping working people as Trump is - viz. not at all.
-
They are lying about brexit??? While Corbyn's "jobs first" brexit is real, isn't it?
-
Bungs from Israeli spies ? Must have missed that.

Look it up on YouTube - clear video evidence of Joan Ryan discussing £1m slush fund with Shai Masot.

Thanks for choosing to
#StandWithIlhan! We have, too, which is one reason (among many) why we’re running to replace Pelosi as the elected rep for CA-12. https://twitter.com/shahidforchange/status/1116947969536819200?s=21 …@goffmania

It is vital for both the long term and short term future of this planet that Corbyn and Sanders both gain leadership in their respective countries in the coming years.

Corbyn does NOT represent the working class. He represents middle class Trotskyites and revolutionary socialists - the sort of people who have never had to rely on the state. Pelosi is right to recognise the immense damage Brexit will do.
-
If Corbyn doesn't represent the working class please could you hurry up and explain that to the working class. They didn't get the memo.https://twitter.com/LeftieStats/status/1084449993761718272?s=19 …

Labour voting ≠ Corbynism. Just as not everyone voting Labour in 1997 was a Blarite.
-
According to the poll as of January 2019 the majority of those earning less than 20k support Labour, vastly more than any other party. For wealthier people the reverse is true: Tories more popular. Care to withdraw your tweet that Lab is not a party for the working class?
-
He didn’t say that. He said Labour does not equal Corbyn. Naomi has let the party down with her rather ignorant tweet. I got out vote in working class area of a Labour seat last election - had to avoid “Corbyn” to secure votes
-
Hi Mary, congrats on the work in Brighton, amazing swing to Labour if we're talking kemptown?

Labour increased vote share but, crucially, failed to win. On top of that Corbyn's mishandling of both antisemitism and Brexit has surely lost him a lot of support. Many Labour voters want the party to be electable - it currently feels a long way from that.
-
Labour’s currently consistently ageadvin the polls and heading for a majority as the Tories collapse. Despite three years of the most appalling media onslaught, and an ongoing campaign of sabotage by some of its own right-wing MPs. Apart from that, you’re right.
-
That’s tories on the left, Labour on the right.... This isn’t an opposition... Magic grandpa is pathetically unelectable.pic.twitter.com/k5VJcaCnCF
-
Only if you haven’t noticed it’s not 23 years ago any more. Get a grip.
-
Err, that’s an opposition destroying the Tory party. Magic grandpa can barely get a point ahead. The Labour Party in 1992 got just as bad a press. This really isn’t all that difficult, Jeremy Corbyn is disaster....
-
1. If you think Labour got this bad a media in 1992, you’re either delusional, or too young to know shit. I was there, and that’s bollocks. 2. It’s not 1996 now. 3. Brexit hadn’t happened. 4. It’s still not 1996. 5. The 2008 crash hadn’t happened. 6. It’s STILL not 1996.
-
Brexit has given Tories artificially high floor - and now it's crumbling, so is their poll rating. While they had 35 built in, a lead of 10+ would have been almost impossible. No party has got 45+ at a GE since 1970.
