No it is not. Samual Gompers, Eugene Debs, Mary Harris Jones, just some examples of Democratic Socialists from the 19th Century. Debs - is one of the fathers of unions, Governor of Wisconsin, ran for POTUS many times. The modern Democratic Socialist Party was founded in 1982.

Not true. I announced my run for Congress on Equal Pay Day April 2015. EMILYs List and BOLD PAC (political Cong. Hispanic Caucus) endorsed within a few months. Our Rev endorsed 9/28/16 & helped raise money. All 3 were critically important and helpful in electing me.
