  4. That weird creepy thing where you buy Gatorade at a subway bodega with cash at 12:30 a.m., and then on Instagram get a ad for Gatorade within the hour and you know you're not being tracked but still, it's damn creepy.

One of my favorite lines from Sal and Gabi is, "Silliness can save us." I believe that to my marrow. And In my thank-you video to the ALSC and the ALA for awarding me the Belpré, I prove that I walk the walk🐔

The multiple ww in publishing threads going around rn EXPLAINING to us how advances work are really condescending. We are Latinx publishing professionals discussing structural racism & inequality. Inequality doesn’t exist because we didn’t choose the right agent.

I try not to use the word "hate," but I HATE the implication (and even more the assertion) that marginalized people are "mobs" or "threats" or "unsafe" when even an ounce of (valid) criticism is made public. This critique is often accompanied by long-standing pain.

What are you prepared to do to resist fascism & dictatorship in the US? Not looking for responses in the replies. This is simply a question everyone must ask themselves. It’s one thing to celebrate resistance in past generations. It’s another to actively resist in the present.

No. I'm sorry. I'm going to keep saying it. To equate critique with threat and protests with violence is what's dangerous. This is just the publisher not wanting to deal with fallout and backlash. But don't say that people pushing back against a book is threatening to democracy.
