We regret unfolding events in Washington DC. Our thoughts are with the American people. Violence has no place in thwarting democracy. We look forward to the peaceful transition of the political administration, which is the hallmark of democracy. Kia tau ngā manaakitanga. 🇳🇿🤝🇺🇸

Interesting they had enough police for BLM but somehow couldn’t secure the Capital today from a MOB they’ve known for weeks was coming!! 🤬🤬🤬 We want ANSWERS!

The sentiment is valid, but the first sentence isn't. You can only 'regret' something *you have done, not someone else. New Zealand is playing no part in this so maybe re-think our wording?

Good point. Lots of pressure to make a statement and I have no doubt this was an unintentional slip. Possibly along the lines of “engaging in democracy” or “critically interacting with the democratic process”. Character count doesn’t help.

Totally agree. These idiots should be prosecuted. But we’re you of the same opinion about violence when BLM and Antifa were injuring people and causing millions of dollars of property damage during their “protests”?
