It's simple, though, freedom of expression vs racism. At the point where it is racism it has ceased to be expression, but is denial of others' basic value and rights on the basis of something inherent in them. Err, no.

The idea that colonialism can be "studied dispassionately" and that denying structural racism exists isn't literally the definition of racism is too much for me right now. I am so sorry you have to work in these conditions. My solidarity to you and your students.
